I have a 96 and the ST fit great on it, I think whatever change came in the 98/99 era. The hardest part of the muffler works is having to work on the floor. There was no need to cut the orginal off and the heat shield that came with my ST covered the joint nicely. I ended up with 4 or 5 discs to get the low end performance and sound I wanted. Be sure to use the provided antisieze on the baffle retaining screws or they will stick when you want to service the packing or change baffle #s. Anything is better than the stock setup, except if you live in a country, or area that they use db meters to check up on the noise level. Based on the PU and SUVs I hear in this area with Texas plates, that doesn't seem to be much of a concern. Happy wrenching
